Lansing-Westgate, Toronto

Lansing-Westgate is a north Toronto neighbourhood where condo apartments and detached houses sit side by side, with a string of parks running through it and a bus terminal at its southern edge. The area mixes higher-density apartment buildings with lower-density streets of detached houses. Most of the homes sold in recent years were built between 1985 and 2018, so the building stock is largely late twentieth century and newer rather than early or mid-century. Of the 278 homes sold in the last 24 months, 55% were condo apartments and 42% were detached houses. The median sale price over that period was $877,500, and the median home spent 22.5 days on the market. The typical home sold had 2 bedrooms. There are currently 44 homes for sale. For getting around, Sheppard-Yonge Bus Terminal lies inside the area. Sheppard Avenue and Yonge Street are the main nearby roads, and Highway 401 runs close by. Subway service on the Yonge line and Sheppard line is reached from the terminal's surroundings, and bus routes connect the neighbourhood to the rest of the city. Shops and services are of the everyday kind: cafes, grocery stores, restaurants and pharmacies, mostly found along the main roads and near the apartment buildings. Green space is a notable feature. The parks inside the area are Albert Standing Park, Bathurst/Wilson Parkette, Beecroft Park, Bike park, Burnett Park, Earl Bales Park, Franklin Park and Gwendolen Park. Earl Bales Park Community Centre is also inside the area. No libraries are on record inside its boundaries. Three schools are inside the area: Cameron Public School and Summit Heights Public School, both part of the Toronto DSB, and St Edward Catholic School, part of the Toronto CDSB.
