Markland Wood, Toronto

Markland Wood is a Toronto neighbourhood of low-rise detached houses and condo apartment buildings, with a mix of mid-century streets and more recent multi-unit developments. The area is largely residential. Curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs sit alongside a number of apartment buildings and townhouse clusters, giving it a moderate density. Most of the homes sold in the past 24 months were built between 1951 and 1985, so the housing stock is mainly postwar, with the low-rise houses and mid-rise condo buildings typical of those decades. Detached houses made up 48% of the 128 homes sold over the last 24 months. Condo apartments accounted for 45% and condo townhouses for 5%. The typical home had 3 bedrooms. No train or subway stations are on record inside the area, so getting around relies on surface routes. Green space is a notable feature, with seven parks inside the area: Bloordale Park, Elmcrest Park, Leavenworth Parkette, Millwood Park, Neilson Park, Seville Avenue Parkette and Snowellen Avenue Parkette. Parkettes are smaller neighbourhood spaces, while the named parks are larger. No community centres or libraries are on record inside the area. Four schools are located inside Markland Wood: Bloordale Middle School, Millwood Junior School and Silverthorn Collegiate Institute, all part of the Toronto DSB, and St Clement Catholic School, part of the Toronto CDSB.
